Description: A superb life-size Sicán funerary mask formed from repoussé sheet gold. The face is modeled with large almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose in high relief, and a narrow mouth beneath a silver nose ornament fitted with two gold dangles. Sheet-silver zoomorphic pendants hang from each earring. Rows of small bosses decorate the cheeks, ears, and headband, while traces of red cinnabar pigment remain visible across the facial panels and crown.
The surface exhibits a rich golden-brown patina with areas of green oxidation and mineral deposits consistent with age and burial environment. A small slit is present on the bridge of the nose. Overall the mask remains in very good condition.
