Description: Wide repoussé-hammered gold nose ornament (nariguera) with a flaring upper band and an elaborate openwork lower register depicting marine imagery, including stylized crabs and fish. The ornament was worn suspended from the nasal septum and would have covered the wearer’s mouth during ceremonial display. The reverse retains traces of red cinnabar, a pigment frequently applied to ritual objects in Moche contexts. Such ornaments were key elements of elite regalia and symbolized status, power, and participation in ceremonial life along the north coast of Peru.
