Description: Sheet gold beaker of the Sicán culture decorated in repoussé with two horizontal bands of stylized frogs. The amphibians are shown with splayed legs and prominent feet, their backs marked by circular and concentric motifs behind the eyes. Frogs were powerful symbols in Andean iconography, associated with water, fertility, and seasonal renewal. Vessels of this type were ceremonial drinking cups used in elite feasting and ritual contexts. A highly desirable example valued for both its sculptural form and technical execution.
