Description: Finely polished blue jade celt of classic Olmec form with tapered body and rounded cutting edge. The smooth, highly finished surface and symmetrical profile reflect the refined lapidary traditions of the Olmec, among the earliest jade-working cultures of Mesoamerica. Such celts were symbols of status and power, worn as pendants, belt ornaments, or deposited as ceremonial offerings.
