Description: Large Inka Quipu with Colors and Complex Knots. Peru. This Quipu is complex with over 250 cotton cords in six different colors. These cords intentionally vary in thickness as well. The primary use of Quipus was of record keeping, with totals of a specific commodity and a “zip” code of where the goods were stored. Also used to by local administrators to display their wealth and others were dictated by the church to keep count of sins.
