Description: A rare ceremonial set comprising a Calima gold crown and matching pectoral. The crescent-shaped pectoral is formed from hammered sheet gold and decorated in repoussé with a stylized anthropomorphic figure associated with solar symbolism. Rows of small bosses frame the outer edges of the ornament.
The accompanying crown is formed from a continuous band of sheet gold decorated with repeating repoussé figures. Such ornaments formed part of elite ceremonial regalia within the Calima culture of western Colombia and would have been worn by high-status individuals during ritual or political events.
